Founded in August 2024, Meducate Teens started with a goal of inspiring teenagers to pursue medicine. In December of 2024, the team started dedicating time to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s research. Through this activism, we collaborated with the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada and raised $677 for Alzheimer’s research. We also collaborated with students from the University of Toronto and University of Waterloo to host an educational panel about emerging Alzheimer’s research, making specialized information accessible to the public. We also worked together with the city of Toronto to gather and create care packages to donate to local Toronto nursing care homes to Alzheimer’s patients. For our work; we were also featured on the online newsletter The Toronto Guardian, reaching over 1.3 million people in Toronto. We also collaborated with health specialists from Ontario hospitals to inform youth about healthcare professions working with Alzheimer’s patients.Through this work, the team, namely our founders Alizeh Karim and Ariana Habibagahi, placed 2nd Canada-wide for the HOSA Spring Leadership Conference and qualified for the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee where they placed 5th internationally for the Alzheimer's Awareness Campaign. In the future, our team aims to continue to make medical education more accessible and continue raising awareness for a variety of medical issues.Read our feature on the Toronto guardian to learn more about our Alzheimer's Awareness Campaign:
